Test-Driving Auto Car from KL-Sitiawan

My little aunt is so in love with her baby, she can't leave the kid in the backseat even for a while. While I understand how mother's love works, it's so ridiculous that sometimes I fear this is what I'll become in the future. Just because her baby girl needs to cling to her every moment like a koala, she even hugs the kid while driving... and I think that's just crazy. She needs to train her kid and not let her kid dominate her every action in life.

So, back to the main topic of the day... So she asked me to drive her auto Vios from KL all the way back to Sitiawan, when I'd clearly told her that I'd no experience in driving auto cars. Her reason? She needs to hug her baby at all times, or else the kid's gonna cry. WTF.

I was very worried, so I prayed to God that I won't crash (thankfully God kept us safe, so I'm still able to blog right now). We started our journey at approximately 4.30am in the morning, and reached at about 8.15am.

Little aunt nags at me the whole way about driving etiquette, driving skills, things to note while driving etc., I wonder if this is what happens when women become mothers. No wonder men hate it so much when women nag while they drive. Now that I understand this feeling, I promise not to nag my future boyfriend/husband while he's driving. I'll seal my mouth, that's the deal.

Admittedly I'm quite proud of myself for driving 4 hours non-stop from KL to Sitiawan, though I almost rushed through a red traffic light (didn't notice it) and experienced a failed overtaking show that almost scared the shit out of little aunt. She kept on mumbling "Good baby, don't be scared, it's OK. It looks like your cousin sister needs more training in car driving." I almost choked myself in laughter (on the inside).

Happy Birthday to Me!

On 19th January, my Matriculation friends celebrated my birthday earlier for me. Being unaware, I sang along with the birthday song and asked Han Lin who was standing beside me who's birthday was it. And it turned out, it was supposed to me mine! LOLs! :)

Today, at 11pm I celebrated my birthday again with my choir mates and was given a pretty surprise - a delicious fruit cake plus a choir version of birthday song! I loved the cake so much, it reminds me so much of Sitiawan Baker's Hut's fruit tart. Thank you everyone, it was really a pleasant birthday! :)

Corruption in the Simplest Form

It's such a sad case that Malaysians think it's normal to give duit kopi to a police to get away from getting a saman. It's even sadder when the police themselves ask for bribe.

A friend's car got stopped midway by a band of police lounging nearby, huffing and puffing away.

A traffic police by the name of Farid (police number X33 - didn't see the first number) who was on duty that day (17th January 2014 near the road to Berjaya Times Square) came over and asked for her IC and license.

"Sini tak boleh pusing, cik." he said. He continued to say that even though it's not in the road transport rules manual, but the car can't be directed that way.

Casually, he asked "Mau saman?" (Do you want to get fined?) Then my friend shook her head.

"Tak mau saman macam mana?" (What should you do if you don't want to get fined?) Clearly, he was hinting at bribery.

I guess you know how the story ends.

Every time near the festive seasons, these jackals will start hunting for prey. They will try to intimidate you with RM300 fines with the intention of soliciting bribes. So beware!

However, if you think you have not done wrong, just ask them to give you a saman anyway - sometimes they won't know what to charge you and will just let you go.

Truth be told, it is not a surprise that the rakyat has lost faith in the police force - all because of these black sheep. They tarnish the whole police force's image.

Dear corrupted police officer (whoever and wherever you are), I hope you rot in hell.

ROMWE Review: Cut-out Back Pleated Lake-Blue Dress

From the first moment I laid my eyes on this dress, I knew I must have it. So I placed an order on ROMWE. The processing time was 5 days for this dress, and the shipping took around 10 days. It's a little waiting here and there, but I'm not complaining since it's free worldwide shipping.

http://image.romwe.com/images/product12/NCSKYD0024/NCSKYD0024.jpg

On a side note, when I bought it on the 14th December, it was at the original price of $31.99, but 3 days later it was on offer at $20.89 for the Christmas sale. I nearly had a heart attack. (TvT) A dollar difference in USD means a variance of MYR3.50. If only I had the patience to wait for 3 more days!

The dress arrived safely, and I was so excited to finally get it! FYI, Romwe will get you a tracking number for the items you ordered, which they deliver separately (in my case). I'd rather receive them all in a bundle though to save the time for checking the transportation of the goods, since there's not much to worry about lost parcels with the tracking numbers provided.

The PROS:

The design is very pretty. :)

The fabric is something like milk chiffon, which is soft to the touch.

The inner lining is made of satin fabric.

The CONS:

Loose lines here and there. Not a big problem though, I can deal with these easily with a pair of scissors.
The fabric is easily creased, so you'll have to iron it lightly before you wear. It is also advisable to hang it in your closet immediately after you iron instead of putting it back into the ROMWE plastic bag to avoid the fabric from being crumpled again.

CONCLUSION:

Quality
The overall quality of this dress was quite good, but I'm not pleased with how they finish the ends of the skirt (particularly with this type of sewing method). It looks cheaply-made at a closer look, though it is not noticeable when you actually wear it or see the dress from afar. By the way, you have to wear a NuBra if you wish to wear this dress, 'cos your whole back is exposed. For the quality, I'd rate it 4 out of 5.

Price
Considering the price, I'd expected more in terms of quality. $31.99 USD is equivalent to MYR105, which is quite expensive However, I love the ethereal and classy look of the dress, so I'm willing to forgo the price for this once.

Customer Service
Together with this dress, I ordered a French Nail Art Decal valued at $5.99, but it never arrived. One thing about this company that I don't like is the Live Chat feature since most of the time I'm not able to reach the people on the other side and end up leaving offline messages which they never replied.

UPDATE: I have received the French Nail Art Decal today (18/1/2014).

However, the conversations I've had with the customer service department representatives by e-mail went quite well. Two representatives named Ariel or Alice have responded well to my e-mails inquiring about the shipment of my orders. I usually get their feedback in a day or two.
