My review:

This book is truly fantastic! Dr. Janine Talty has written an incredible book about her experiences as an Indigo and her journey to find out the answers to the questions that had been lingering in her mind since childhood : Who am I? What is the purpose of being born?

Indigo Awakening has given me a deeper understanding of the special kind of people known as Indigos. This book is written from an adult Indigo's perspective, so it is not hard for us to understand how Indigo individuals view the world. They are more advanced in thinking and are able to grasp higher-grades Mathematical concepts easily, but they have problems excelling in studies in the current way of education.

They don't feel belonged easily, and this often leads to isolation. But, they will always receive guidance from their mentors, which will eventually lead them to the right path. I think, maybe some of them enjoy being solitary, since ordinary people don't understand them.

Indigo children are alleged to possess uncanny traits and abilities, like having memories of past lives, using non-verbal communication (telepathy), and displaying talents in arts, music and science. They have a feeling that they are here, incarnated as humans, because they have a special yet unknown mission to carry out.

In a chapter, Dr. Janine also mentions about auras, and seeing it with peripheral vision. Although I don't really understand how it works, it really intrigues me. So, I googled about it and a source says that actually everyone can see auras with a little practice. I did for a few days, but alas, I saw nothing. Have you ever seen it?

Dr. Janine Talty uses her own words to deliver her story in detail, giving us a better insight of Indigo individuals' world and their special traits and personalities. Some of the events in the story cannot be described scientifically, but I believe they are real, because this memoir is written by a doctor who is an Indigo herself and is wholly based on her own experiences. If you are interested in knowing more about Indigo kids and adults, then this book is your best choice!

Favourite lines:

"No matter how many people are there to support us throughout life's ups and downs, when you get right down to it, we make the real journey on our own." (pg 234)

"Good teachers never preach; they lead by example, and they never stop being students either." (pg 245)

Rating : 10/10

A great THANK YOU to Jeff Anderson for sending me a paperback copy of Indigo Awakening! And to Dr. Janine Talty, thank you for willing to share your thoughts and experiences with everyone!

About the author:

Dr. Janine Talty, today a successful osteopathic physician, as a child found herself bewildered by a world full of challenges that she could not understand. She felt isolated, unable to cope with the regular life issues that other children managed easily. She could not comprehend math or spelling—yet she could see energies that others could not see, and had levels of awareness than no-one around her possessed. She exhibited unusual artistic and healing talent. She spontaneously remembered and drew pictures from “old memories” of places her family had never visited. Only as she grew into adulthood, painfully learning to cope with her challenges, did she realize she was an "indigo," one of a generation of people with unusual talents and abilities, yet who rarely fit neatly into societal roles.
