Thyme in a Flask by Glen Quarry

http://workinggirlreviews.files.wordpress.com/2010/03/thyme-in-flask.jpg

I choose Thyme in a Flask by Glen Quarry, because the author introduces Jon as an orphan at the beginning of the novel, but at last he found his long-lost father, who had been turned into a magic mirror and stayed as one for 18 years. That's quite a creative way to get the parent out of the way. I really enjoyed this book, which is filled with fun and adventures! You can read my full review here.
