Review: Frame Thai @ Happy Mansion

Today's lunch was at Frame Thai, a shop run by Thai nationals.

Not gonna comment much, just one word: NICE!!!

This is Angie's meal. Thick Rice Noodle in Clear Soup (RM5)

My dish is called Fried Noodles with Soy Sauce (if I'm not mistaken).
But anyways it's number 11 on the menu if you wanna try it out.

A close-up. It's really scrumptious!
The serving is quite small, though.
It costs RM8.

Their menus are in Thai, with English translations. The people there don't speak much English, so better if you know some basic Thai if you wanna ask for anything. Angie was craving for BBQ Pork but it wasn't served anywhere, so she requested me to ask them. I squeezed my brains for some of the Thai words I learned in my 3 weeks in Thai last time and asked, "Wan ni mi mhu BBQ mai?" meaning "is there BBQ Pork today"? And she replied me something which I thought was no. Then she repeated "Phrung ni" (tomorrow). Maybe we'll go back tomorrow for BBQ Pork! *super excited* :)

Thank God I still understand these basics. It never hurts to learn a foreign language. You don't know when it'll come in handy.

CONCLUSION
Pros: Delicious!
Cons: A little expensive, given their delicate serving size.

UPDATE 31/12: Went back there today to try their soya bean and BBQ pork, and they are really tasty! The soya bean tastes more beany/milky and is totally different from Malaysian-made soya bean drinks. The BBQ pork is equal portions chewy, juicy and crunchy, covered with a generous layer of special sauce that enhances the taste. It's a must-try!

This is worth an upgrade in ratings

Review: Amante Hot Stone Massage @ Jaya One PJ

Thanks to Butterfly Project Malaysia and Amante, I was given the opportunity to try out one of their signature services. I've never tried any kind of back massage before, so I happily opted for the Hot Stone Massage. I made an appointment for today's 1pm session, and Rose, lady at the counter told me that it will be a 30-minute session. I'm all for it. :)

The outside view.

The massage room.

Close up of the painting.

They will provide you with a towel, a g-string sort of disposable panties and a cap to cover your hair.

And this is me, all prepared for massage.

The massage was quite an enjoyable one. My masseuse is a plump, friendly lady named June. She has been working with Amante for 3 years. She complimented on my capacity to withstand pressure (haha), cos most first-timers will complain about the pain.

Her skilled fingers pushed and pulled at my knotted muscles and followed up with sessions with the stones. My whole body felt good and relaxed after the treatment. I don't have much angin (wind) in my body, so it's still fine. But June told me not to take any ice in my diet if possible. After the hot stone session ended, June massaged my shoulders to wrap it up.

One more thing, remember to tell your masseuse if you feel that the stones are too hot or the massage is too strong and they will make proper adjustments to give you the best service.

After the massage, I was served with ginger tea.
This is real ginger tea, warm and spicy, unlike the sweet ones you get at Korean restaurants.

This is their service menu.

They always have promotions going on, so you can always ask them / do some research if you wish to know more / get a better package. First timers will also get a discount, but I'm not sure how much.

This is Rose, the lady at the counter I mentioned earlier.

She tried to sell me some of their service packages that cost up to RM1500, but sadly I'm still a student and can't afford the splurge. I can only blog about my experience here and help Amante get more customers. *free promo* haha

Their nail polish collection.

This is only one compartment, they still have three more, so you don't have to worry about the choices. There are also some other quirky designs. Manicure isn't really my thing cos I like my nails clean and pink. I have the cutest fingernails ever. :)

Review: Ume Tei 梅亭 @ Amcorp Mall

The Chienchilla and her bestie Angie (plus Gan Wei Lin) decided to try some Korean food today, so they headed to Amcorp Mall's Haeun Khon but to their despair, it's closed! :(

So they headed to Ue Tei (梅亭), a Japanese restaurant also in Amcorp Mall. The place gives off a quaint, homey feel with wooden chairs and tables.

Me and Angie wore similar jewelry today hehe... Guys would call this "gay" but for girls it's a fun thing to accessorize in similar themes! My jewelry are all from Indonesia, the Manas Jakarta one is a gift from Ridha, while the others are from Grace, Reza and Raisa.

Me and Angie decided to share a Ramen Bento Set (RM23.20 inclusive of 10% service charge and 5% govt tax) cos we saw that it was inclusive of a bowl of ramen noodle + rice + Chicken katsu + 2 side dishes (fern spikes with egg & pickles) + a slice of watermelon, so we figured it'd be just nice for both of us. Ended up both of us are not quite full, but it's ok, cos we should eat simple for dinner anyways.

The ramen noodles resembles our wantan noodles, the soup and ingredients were nice, though the ham slice was a bit hard to chew. My favourite would be the chicken katsu & salad, dipped in their special sauce. But somehow I favour their sauces more than the food.

Before the dishes came out, the waiter handed us an empty bowl. Very observant waiter indeed - cos we're gonna share a set, so obviously we need an extra bowl. And they refilled our cups diligently throughout the whole meal. Thumbs up for their good service.

Will I come back again? Yes! But I'll probably try something else. :)

Review: Vvaffle @ Jaya One

Vvaffle is a new concept store selling creative, delicious waffles. I was one of the 200 lucky birds who got to try out their waffles for free @ the Jaya One Markets event on 20th December 2014. Below are the waffles I tried last time:

Torched Japanese mayo and takoyaki sauce, sprinkled with chilli pepper and dried bonito

Blueberry cream cheese with crushed Oreo waffle

Angie and I went to Jaya One for the FOS Year End Sale today, so we decided to pay a visit to Vvaffle. The shop is located on level P1.

The design is fun and quirky, with cute drawings adorning the whole section of the counter.

Pretty sure this is hand-drawn.

Today Angie and I only tested the Belgian Liege Waffle with peanut toppings (RM6.50) cos we want to leave some space for dinner. The waffle is slightly crunchy on the outside but soft and warm on the inside. Spiced up with semi-liquid dark chocolate and peanut toppings, it's plain wonderful! I'll be coming back for more good vvaffles. :)

SEP Pancasila University

SEP (Student Exchange Program) is an annual program between our University and other higher institutes of learning from Thailand, Indonesia and China. It's a baby of ALSA (Asian Law Students Association) UM, and we received a team of 20 inbound students in mid November - early December for a period of three weeks.

I only had the chance to join one activity due to my busy schedule. So I picked the Batu Caves trip.

Me and Ridha before climbing the stairs

One quarter of the journey to the top.

I was already so exhausted halfway through. Really don't know how Ridha remained super energetic and bouncy as she kept urging me to go on. She didn't even break a sweat climbing the stairs. I'm sure she'd have gone up in a mere 5 minutes if it wasn't for me lol.

The UM SEP committee members. Didn't notice the jolly-looking angmoh photobombing us! Thanks for making our photo so much livelier, dear sir! :)

On our last night, we had a Cultural Night to enjoy and have fun. For the first time in my life, I'm involved in the dance crew. So happy that I finally had the courage to take up something new. Dancing is something I've always wanted to try out, though it's pretty alien to me.

The Indian dance crew.

And last but not least, a pretty picture of myself.

Roomies Outing @ Publika

Our annual roomies outing on 15.12.14 was @ S.Wine, Publika. This place serves pork, there's even a huge pig statue outside the shop. I didn't know whether it was Angie or Winli who suggested it, but the food was quite good. However, be prepared to burn a big hole in your pocket (wallet) if you're a poor student like me. We ended up paying RM130++ for the meal.

We-fie before the meal.

Put this in cos I think Winli's expression was damn funny!

Then they went on to take pictures of themselves only cos they say I was grabbing the limelight.
"Yin Chien's a bitch! We look ugly if she's in the photo!"

I felt so proud of myself at that moment. Usually they look better than me but that day Winli's got a huge bump on her eyelid, and Angie accidentally messed up her brows. So naturally I stand out.

I love the 2nd and 3rd dishes, but the burger was too salty for my liking. Ended up Angie and Winli had to finish it off... haha sorry imma bitch. But overall the food taste good.

Walking around after dinner. Notice our bulged stomachs!
This Christmas tree is made from paper-cut! Creative much?

We-fie in the mirror on our way to the desert station, Mad About Coco.

Took this off the web cos I actually forgot the place name.

Me with the dessert! It's called the Innocent Devil Tiramisu Ball.

Here's a close up.

And you're supposed to pour hot chocolate on it and melt it before you eat!

We also got one of their signature cakes.

And again, pour the hot chocolate on the cake!

The girls doing all sort of silly stuff, before noticing that we were directly within the view of the CCTV. Bet the employees were laughing their asses off looking at us in their monitor screen.

Hiding Winli's fats.

Sweet in a diamond-shaped chair!

My personal Christmas tree!

Another picture of myself.

And to end here's a pretty picture of us.

Love,
Chien.
